Screening during May each year in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast, the Tropical Alternatives Film Festival shows a variety of films highlighting the richness in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.

Many LGBT people love movies but find their lives and their stories are not reflected on the silver screen. The Tropical Alternatives Film Festival shows films that mirror the lives of people in our communities.

The festival allows LGBT people and their supporters to share the joy of watching movies that support their life experience in Regional Queensland. The storytellers of our community give us hope, courage and strength to stand up and live life to the full.

The Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC) would like to thank all those who attend the 2010 Film Festival. Once again the local community was able to enjoy a great selection of diverse LGBT films, they otherwise may not have seen.  A great day was had by all!!

A huge thank you to Kelly, Alan, Ric & Cameron for assisting on the day. Without your help and without the support of the community this event would not happen.

See you next year!!

Tim
